Sippy cups no more

I bought this yesterday at Whole Foods, a complete impulse buy. But they are soo cute. When I showed it to a friend of mine she said it looked very european. Maybe because is is? It is a SIGG bottle, Swiss-made. This is their kids collection and they come in a variety of designs, and two sizes. And apparently they won't break (the inside part) when they are dropped and the top is leak free. The best part, what really sets them apart from sippy cups - it is a thermos (and light weight) so the milk won't go bad if you are travelling and the drinks won't get warm if you are outside. You can check them out here. They have fun designs for the grown ups too - my personal favorite is this, or maybe this?

Bags

Aren't these great?! You can find them at seabreezestudio.co.uk as well as seabreezestudio.etsy.com.
By the way, this mosaic was created using Mosaic Maker (I just found out about it), one of fd's Flickr Toys. What other toys do they have?

A beautiful photo-blog

For today a short post - one photo blog I would recommend - whoopsy daisy! A little bit of knitting, a little bit of sewing, a little bit of kids and some politics - all mixed up for a great read. Oh, and I forgot to mention the pictures - beautiful. A few years back this used to be a knitting blog. Then in December of 2005 she stopped blogging (I wrote about it here) saying that writing and maintaing the blog simply took too much time (similar to loobyloo?). Then she started this photo blog, with basically pictures a just a bit of text. Then picture captions started to grow, and now - well, it's basically a blog again. I am not complaining, I visit often. Check it out.

Oh, yes - first day of Spring today! Not that we notice it here in Southern California...

One-a-day inspirations...

Lisa Congdon is making little drawings every day - a cuple of minutes, a few rules and a post-it. Every day since 1/1/2007. Good work. Simple, does not involve a lot of time - good recipe for something that you can keep on doing every day.
I wanted to do a post every day, but it always seems very time consuming and compilcated. But,  if I can keep it short and simple, keep a common theme - maybe I can make it. I am working full time again, so I don;t have very much time to write posts but I would like to keep track of little things I find or think about that inspire my crafts.
So, with this post let me anounce a month of one-a-day inspiration notes. And what happens after 30 days? Well, they say that if you can keep doing soething for 30 days that it will become a habbitt. So if I can do it for 30 days, I can do it for a year, right?
First post: this is a book I received in mail yesterday. I got a copy from the library some time ago and I loved it so much I had to have it. I got it from half.com (hardcover, brand new) for $4.95+shipping, about $9 altogether - a steal! Half.com is not as cheap as it used to be (got bought by ebay and then the cost for sellers started going up) but you can still find good buys, especially if you don't mind a used book.
Quilts are simply gorgeous and I really like the instructions. You can not only learn how to construct a similar quilt but you can learn a lot about how to work with color in your quilt. Amazing pictures. A good buy.

Thank You!

I have had my shop on Etsy since November, and this weekend I had my first sale. And then a second one came only a day later. Feels great. A big THANK YOU to the buyers. I hope you enjoy the items for a long time. These were the items sold:

Growing Stash

I made a trip to Downtown LA yestarday afternoon and here is what I brought home. I appologize for the picture quality, I did not have time to play with my camera and definitely no time to scan them in (future plans). It was very quiet in the Fashion District yesterday, maybe because it was a bit chilly, or maybe Thursday afternoon is not a big shopping day. I kept seeing the same people from store to store (of course there were many people at Michael Levine store, but I don't really go there - they seem to have your typical fabric everybody else has, I like to look and dig around other stores). Anyway - I found some pinks and reds and also some small print in yellows (it turns out these are japanese fabrics):

And then some small pattern in blue and green and then... I fell in love with plaid. I almost bought more, but I ran out of cash...
After I bought the first plaid (the green one) I started seeing plaid everywhere, in any imaginable color and combination of colors. I always liked plaid, but they just seemed so crisp and fresh I had to had some. And then, I find and add for Madewell in my mailbox and these is (some of) what they have:
